Can I be Santiago from The Alchemist?

I read this somewhere, “Dreams are wishes with strong determination” and how true is that. We all have dreams. Dreams to achieve success & happiness. Some pursue their dreams like Santiago from The Alchemist. Just as Santiago had to go through so many hurdles to achieve, we all have to too.

These hurdles shape us. Once we cross them, they define us. Most of us fear to cross these hurdles, fearing what will we find on the other side. That’s a mystery for sure but something which pursuers want and hence it’s not a hindrance for them to follow their dreams.

This world knows us by how many bucks we earn. This world is judgemental and one thing is sure that our happiness DOESN’T depend on this world’s verdict of our stature. To be happy we have to earn in our means. Doing things we love & then the work will be in our blood. It’s not that each one of us follows their heart and get into the profession they want to.

Similarly, I am an IT professional. I like the work but my dream profession would be being a librarian. I know it seems crazy but that is what I had in my mind once I saw our college library. It was huge & filled with study books. Only a handful of novels were there.

I want to be a librarian and keep it full with novels & books. I want to read all those books by being there day & night. No need of anyone’s company or any other thing. I wish someone would give me money for reading books I like 😀

Life is a constant struggle and the struggle is on and hope that I can be a librarian for a day. I have started buying books and the count has increased this year more than before. I am not able to read much nowadays, neither blogs or books, but I will start both it all again sooner.

As I was talking to a WP friend yesterday, she said, “Finally, good days are here to stay.” I could not believe less. Good days are here to stay for all. With our dream profession, good days turn into happy & peaceful days too 🙂

Supreme One

We don’t read for the sake of reading

Some do

We don’t write for the sake of writing

No one does

We don’t eat for the sake of eating

Some do

We don’t sleep for the sake of sleeping

Again, some do!

We don’t smile for the sake of smiling

Some do

We don’t create for the sake of creation

Some do

We don’t kill for the sake of killing

No one does

We don’t cry for the sake of crying

No one will ever do

We marry for the sake of being married

Many do

Just to regret & repent

But then the damage is done

This is just an example

From the whole list of mistakes

Which we all can do

With less thinking

We don’t have to be anyone else

To be someone

We are ourselves

And we’re awesome

Don’t do things for the sake of doing it

There’s no fun in that

No lessons in that

Just wastage of time

But if you do things

With some percentage of genuineness

Then you evolve

The thing seems genuine

Pieces start falling in right places

Words seem to make sense

Rivers seems to find oceans

One seems to be many

And many manys’ together

Becomes the Supreme One

Let there be light and let there be sight..

I was reading a book while traveling in bus.

The bumpy Indian roads(I added Indian because in movies, the roads outside India are super smooth and anyone can slide on those :P) made it difficult for me to read properly. Still I kept reading because the book is almost on the verge of ending.

This phase is very emotional and painful, when the book’s about to end and we feel drained thinking HOW LIFE WILL BE when this book will be complete? It sucks, I know. I know !

Then a thought popped up, it would be so dreadful to be blind. Not to be able to see. Not to be able to read. Not to be able to distinguish. All things will be black. No shapes. No sizes. No colors. No existence.

Only the others senses will have to prompt about the existence of something. I strongly believe that if we lack one sense, then the power of that sense is distributed among the remaining, which heightens the overall power of the remaining senses. You can contradict on this but this is my personal view. And, I just hope it to be true 🙂

I felt so dreadful thinking about the world being black and nothing visible that I closed the book and sat and OBSERVED things. Saw the things which were always there but I failed to see previously. It was, as if, my inner eye had awakened.

But, the feeling of dread didn’t stay long because then I remembered that I have pledged in written that I will donate my eyes after my demise. Rather, to be correct, I have said this to all my family members, my close friends regarding this because, I can’t donate but they all can try to make my wish fulfilled and not think much about other related things.

I have made my Pledge @ Drushti Daan, an Eyebank in Bhubaneswar, Orissa where we can try and help others unlike us, be like us. We can give others the joy of sight, the joy of laughter, the joy of distinguishing things, the joy of life.

And, my parents and friends have supported me in this also, which is really a big thing. I heartily thank all and would like, if you don’t go and donate, but at least think, THINK once, wouldn’t you want the power of sight if you would had been unable?

It is a big decision, but this decision of yours can decrease the pain and increase the joy of others. And, the most important thing is not only you but also all the people related to you, will be blessed from the core of their hearts.

Try to gather blessings and smiles to your names, rather than some coins and notes made of thin paper. The former will always outweigh the later.

Stay blessed and keep sharing you views.
